In addition to her deep agency experience, Baglivo also brings thought-leadership on next-generation marketing.
NEW YORK, Dec. 13, 2016 — Verve™, the industry leader in location-powered mobile marketing, today announced the appointment of Mary Baglivo as its first independent board director. Baglivo is chief marketing officer and vice president of global marketing at Northwestern University. Prior to Northwestern, she spent eight years as chairman and chief executive officer at Saatchi & Saatchi, The Americas. Baglivo’s former leadership roles also include president at Havas’ Arnold Worldwide, chief executive officer at Panoramic Communications, and chief operating officer at J. Walter Thompson.
“Mary provides unique perspective to the Verve board,” said Tom Kenney, Verve’s chief executive officer. “In addition to her deep experience at the helm of one of the world’s leading agencies, she also brings thought-leadership on next-generation marketing from Northwestern, one of the most respected schools in this discipline.”
For the past three years, Baglivo’s leadership at Northwestern has been marked by major branding initiatives. As the Chicago Business Journal notes, Baglivo has put “big creative” at the heart of the university’s efforts to attract top students worldwide.
During her tenure at Saatchi & Saatchi, clients included P&G, General Mills, and Toyota. Baglivo’s tenure also included major new accounts added, including Chase Sapphire; Lenovo; Miller Brewing; Wendy’s; JC Penney; Avaya; Ameriprise; and top Kraft brands Trident, Capri Sun, and Kool-Aid.
“Mary’s marketing experience with CPG, retail, and QSR businesses adds a new dimension to the Verve board,” said John Gardner, partner, Nokia Growth Partners and member of Verve’s board of directors since 2012. “Adding a best-in-class marketing expert will prove invaluable when it comes to our support for the Verve mission.”
Regarding this appointment, Baglivo said she accepted it based on Verve’s proven record of innovation and dynamic growth.
“I am excited about the opportunity to join the board of such a progressive company,” said Baglivo. “Verve is at the heart of the hottest space in marketing today. Tom and the leadership team impress me on every level. They have a clear vision for the future of mobile, and both the skills and experience to deliver results and drive the industry forward.”
Baglivo serves as board director on two Fortune 500 companies — PVH Corp. and Host Hotels & Resorts. Baglivo holds a Master of Science in Integrated Marketing Communications from Northwestern University, and a Bachelor of Arts in English, Phi Beta Kappa, from Rutgers University.
